Historian Jack Rakove lectures on the Founding Fathers at Westmont luncheon

While many people revere the Founding Fathers as something more than human, historian Jack Rakove has made his name — and won a literary prize — by bringing them down to a relatable level, as men who were aware they were changing history but also ones who lived lives of contradictions, hypocrisy and moral virtue.

That last phrase, what it means, and how we might interpret it, was the focus of a lecture the author gave to Westmont faculty, alumni and donors at Friday’s luncheon at the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara. more
