LOCAL ROUNDUP: Butler, Warriors shut down Flames

Friday might have been April Fool’s Day, but there was no fooling around on the mound for Westmont pitcher Daniel Butler.

The junior righty led the seventh-ranked Warriors to a 6-1 non-conference victory over Bethesda at Russ Carr Field.

Butler improved to 7-1 on the season for the Warriors (26-6) by allowing one earned run on five hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none. It marked Butler’s 18th career win for Westmont, and lowered his season earned-run average to 1.53. more
