TENNIS NOTES: Local claims U12 win at USTA event

It’s been a busy autumn on the courts for Special Olympics, with the annual Tennis Classic at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara leading up to the Fall Games in Fountain Valley… “The high schoolers from Santa Barbara, San Marcos, and Dos Pueblos all helped put it on. I know we had 15 from DP alone, which was incredible. UCSB, Santa Barbara City College, and Westmont all joined as well to partner and play with our athletes.” more

Jeff Azain, an assistant for Westmont coach John Moore, played for Halleck’s 1981 CIF-SS finalist team, with Moore noting that it was “the best high school team I’ve ever seen.” more
