Westmont Sweeps Doubleheader Against Menlo in Hoops

The Westmont College women’s basketball team started strong while the men had a good finishing kick on Thursday night. It all added up to a sweep.

The No. 2 ranked NAIA Westmont women’s team jumped on Menlo early and never let up. They led by 20 at the half and won 81-56 to improve to 16-2 on the year and 5-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference. more

LO’s Sanders inks with Westmont

Justin Sanders wanted to prove that despite his stature, he was a quality pitcher.

Proving naysayers wrong that he is in fact big enough to move on to varsity or to the collegiate level, Sanders inked his letter of intent to play for Westmont College in Santa Barabra next year.

The Santa Barbara Sculptors Guild juried membership exhibition “+SPACE?” is on view through Jan. 29 in the Faulkner Gallery at the Central Library, 40 E. Anapamu St. …It is the visual push and pull that makes the work interesting. Juror for the show was Christopher Rupp, who specializes in sculpture and ceramics and is on the faculty in the Westmont College art department. more

Surfer nabs suspected car burglar after paddling back to shore

A California surfer was stoked after she paddled back to shore and nabbed a man police said was breaking into her friend’s car. …Her exploits caught the attention of her alma mater Westmont College which sent out a tweet Wednesday that said: “Westmont alumna Jolie Bernal ’09 catches a burglar red handed. No seriously.” more
