The major, multi-venue exhibition known as “Guatemala from 33,000 km: Contemporary Art, 1960-Present” takes its name from the title of a 1960 painting by the late, respected Guatemalan artist Efrain Recinos (1928-2011), and blends comic visions with geographic identity issues, peering down from space on the stretch of Earth where Guatemala sits. … Recinos’ canvas is prominently displayed in the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, the epicenter of an exhibition that also includes the Westmont Museum of Art and the Community Art Workshop on Garden Street. more
