Athletic Roundtable: Channel League Volleyball Play Heating Up

The competition is heating up among local Channel League girls volleyball teams as rivalry season begins…. Westmont: The Warriors extended their winning streak to 20 straight after sweeping GSAC rival Vanguard in a sweep. Both teams entered the matchup undefeated in league play, so the Warriors took over sole possession of first place. more

Twice in the final seconds of Saturday night’s non-conference football game at College of the Desert, visiting SBCC had a chance to get into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown…. Samantha Neely had 11 kills on a .478 hitting percentage for the Warriors in a 25-23, 25-13, 25-19 Golden State Athletic Conference road victory. Cassidy Rea added 10 kills on a .429 percentage for Westmont (21-1, 7-0), while Lauren Friis had a team-high 15 digs on defense. more

Jeremiah Anderson scored a pair of goals and Gabriel McEwen and Tyler Young added one each as Westmont Men’s Soccer (4-2-3, 3-1 GSAC) cruised to a 4-0 Golden State Athletic Conference victory at San Diego Christian (3-8, 0-4 GSAC) on Saturday afternoon. more

Westmont’s Michael Oldach finished in first place in the men’s open division of The Master’s Cross Country Invitational on Saturday in Santa Clarita. As a team, the Warriors finished in second place by just one point, scoring 61 to The Master’s 60. more

Westmont Women’s Soccer Blanks San Diego Christian

Freshman goalkeeper Gabi Haw recorded her second shutout of the season as NAIA No. 6 Westmont Women’s Soccer (9-1-1, 3-0-1 GSAC) posted a 3-0 Golden State Athletic Conference win at San Diego Christian (4-6, 0-4) on Saturday. Senior Jackie Lopez scored the game winner in the 42nd minute to give Westmont the advantage headed into halftime. more

(PHOENIX) Jackie Lopez scored a pair of goals to help lead #6 Westmont Women’s Soccer (8-1-1, 2-0-1 GSAC) to victory in Thursday’s Golden State Athletic Conference game at Arizona Christian (4-4-1, 0-2-1). Avalon Albright also scored for the Warriors who posted a 3-1 win. more

The fifth-ranked Westmont women’s volleyball team rode its offense to a 25-12, 25-21, 29-27 Golden State Athletic Conference victory over Vanguard on Thursday night at Murchison Gym. Four different Warriors hit for double digits in kills, led by a match-high 15 kills by Libby Dahlberg on a .522 hitting percentage. more
