UConn’s Samuelson, Collier Camping Team USA Style This Weekend

The UConn women’s basketball team will hold its first fall practice on Oct. 12, but two Huskies will be playing some high-level hoops this weekend…. Players will train Saturday and Sunday morning at Westmont College. On Monday, the camp shifts to University of California at Santa Barbara. more

Westmont Downs Vanguard to Take Over First Place in GSAC

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Westmont Volleyball, ranked at number five in the NAIA, won its 20th game of the season on Thursday night in just its 21st game of the year. The fifth-ranked Warriors swept Vanguard (8-7, 5-1 GSAC) in a Golden State Athletic Conference match-up to claim sole possession of first place with a 6-0 league record. Westmont won by scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 29-27. more

Westmont Hosting USA Basketball’s First Women in the Game Conference on Saturday

With a goal to inspire more women to become leaders in sports, USA Basketball will host an inaugural Women In The Game conference from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (PDT) on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Westmont College. The USA Basketball Women In The Game conference will educate high school girls and college women about career paths within sports and basketball through sessions led by guest speakers. The guest speakers hail from a variety of sport business fields will share their personal career journeys, essential characteristics to succeed in their roles and practical strategies to obtain and sustain positions in the industry. more

2017 Killebrew Award Winner: Hector Lujan (Cedar Rapids)

475 of his 573 career home runs came while wearing a Minnesota Twins uniform. Harmon Killebrew had a major impact on many teams and many playoff teams. He also is well known for the impact that he had on people in the community. When the Hall of Famer passed away in 2011, the Minnesota Twins announced that they would award one player from each of their four full-season affiliates the Harmon Killebrew Award for Community Service…. Lujan was born and grew up in Mira Loma, California, a city just east of Anaheim. He began his college career by pitching at UC-Santa Barbara before finishing out his college years at Westmont College. The Twins use their 35th round pick in 2015 to select the hard-throwing right-hander. more

ShelterBox USA Event Raises $225,000 for Relief Efforts
