Laguna Students to Celebrate Life of Late Soccer Coach

Laguna Blanca students have organized a Benefit Soccer Tournament and Celebration of Life for beloved Laguna Soccer Coach Davies Kabogoza, who died on April 29 after he disappeared while stand-up paddle boarding at the Santa Barbara Harbor… He played for Westmont College, where he graduated last year with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.  more

Schroeder wins new kinds of medals

Grant Schroeder grew up in a family pure of mettle and rich in medals. Dad won swimming gold at both the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. … “What I really wanted to do when I was young was go to Westmont College and play basketball for coach John Moore and coach Jeff Azain,” he said. “That was a huge goal of mine, playing for them … and then even going on to the NBA. more

Westmont College lands sharpshooting Lancer

Gyse Hulsebosch is headed for Tinseltown – or close to it. On the Dalben Center floor that bore witness to so many of his seemingly-supernatural exploits, the East Union senior signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his basketball career on scholarship at Westmont College, an interdenominational Christian liberal arts college in Montecito nestled in the hills above Santa Barbara. more

Folsom track athletes looking forward to the future

Folsom High’s track team has four female athletes who have earned scholarships to continue running in college and the four girls are pairing up and won’t be far from a familiar face… Teammate Sarah Canzoneri won’t be far away, as she’s earned a scholarship to run at Westmont College, also in Santa Barbara. Canzoneri will study business and economics. more

Bill Macfadyen: 3 Survivors with a Harrowing Tale About All That’s Left After Helicopter Crash

There wasn’t much left of a Santa Barbara tour helicopter that crashed and burned May 5 at La Cumbre Country Club in Hope Ranch. Somehow, the pilot and his two passengers survived, and, boy, will they have a tale to tell… Conrad, who is from Hermosa Beach, is a 2016 graduate of Westmont College and a former first baseman on the Warriors’ baseball team. Crosby, from Manhattan Beach, was a defensive specialist on Westmont’s powerhouse women’s volleyball team, which went undefeated in the 2016 regular season and won the Golden State Athletic Conference championship before falling in the NAIA tournament quarterfinals. more


Washington School finished ahead of seven other Santa Barbara elementary schools on Monday at a local track and field meet held at the Westmont College track. More than 200 students from Roosevelt, McKinley, Adams, Cleveland, Franklin, Monroe, Harding and Washington elementary schools competed in a dozen events. more
