Storm Closes Highways In and Around Santa Barbara County

Mudslides, flooding and fallen trees caused dozens of road closures throughout Santa Barbara County Friday, and major highways were shut down within a few hours of the heavy rain hitting the Central Coast… Highway 192 was closed Saturday between Coyote Road to Westmont Road because of downed trees and power lines and was expected to stay closed all day, according to Caltrans.  more

The Carpinteria Unified School District After School Program Leadership Councils visited Westmont College on Feb. 6 to tour the campus. Students from Carpinteria had an opportunity to ask first-generation college students from Westmont’s Liberal Arts Ambassadors Program about their school experiences and goals. more

The Central Coast Immigrant Rights Coalition and UC Santa Barbara Lobby Corps have been lobbying the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office to remove Immigration and Customs Enforcement from county jails… In addition to the UCSB Lobby Corps, Santa Barbara City College, Allan Hancock College and Westmont College have been assisting CCIRC. more

John Ralston Crew, born May 27th, 1933 to Ralston Lewis Crew & May Verna Mills in Fallon, Nevada, went to be with the Lord on January 12th, 2017 due to complications from a major stroke…   John graduated from Atascadero High in 1950, from Westmont College in 1954. more
