Young Musicians in Spotlight for Community Concerts

Local children will be the featured performers in two free community concerts presented in February by the Santa Barbara Symphony Music Education Center in partnership with the Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD)… n addition to the Santa Barbara Symphony, SBUSD, and the Incredible Children’s Art Network, funding partners include Westmont College, the Mosher Foundation, and the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, which also is assisting with instrument maintenance and repair. more

COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Biola holds off Westmont comeback

Biola foiled a late comeback by Westmont, beating the Warriors 63-60 on Tuesday in La Mirada in the final Golden State Athletic Conference game between the two staunch rivals. more

Nick Butler had a game-high 15 points and five steals while Gianni Madrigal added 14 points and seven rebounds in the Patriots’ win at Westmont College’s Murchison Gym. more

Lights, camera, competition

And they’re off! The 10 high school and 10 college students chosen for this year’s 10-10-10 Student Filmmaking Competition, part of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, appeared in a brief press conference before starting work on their short films. It’s the competition’s 14th year… College age scriptwriters are Jordan Metz from UCSB; Malena McKaba, Hunter Lum and Troy Wullbrandt from Santa Barbara City College, and Valerie Cripe from Westmont. more

University campus survey results shared Feb. 14

Stu Cleek, associate dean for residence life, Westmont College, will present “Campus Racial Climate and Sense of Belonging at Bluffton University and Beyond” for Forum at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.  more

Miss Mendocino County guest performers include Miss California 2006 and 2007

Tickets will be on sale the night of the event for Miss Mendocino County 2017 and highlighting the show for entertainment will be two former Miss Californias… Also performing Saturday evening will be Melissa Chaty, Miss California 2007. Melissa is a former Miss Mendocino County and Miss North Coast. With the Miss North Coast title she won the Miss California pageant. She attended Westmont College earning a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Music. more
