Obituary | Ethel B. Davis

On June 14, Ethel Davis peacefully went to be with the Lord at her home in King City. Here last words were “Thank You Jesus! Thank you Jesus!” She was 99 years old. She was born at Arcadia Nebraska on March 25, 1920. She was married to Chester Davis in 1938 and departed their home in Alpena, Arkansas for King City California the same year. They were married for 53 years until Chester went to be with the Lord in 1991. … Donations: Persons wanting to make a donation in Memory of Ethel can donate to the Nick Davis Memorial Scholarship at Westmont College. more

LOCAL ROUNDUP: Morison named NAIA All-America

Bryce Morison, the Santa Barbara High Don who chose to play his collegiate baseball for hometown Westmont, was rewarded on Wednesday by getting voted to the NAIA All-America second team as a centerfielder. more

CURRAN, Pamela Hannah Foxen

On May 14, 2019 Pamela Hannah Foxen Curran died unexpectedly and went to be with the Lord. Pam was born Oct 20, 1946 in Los Angeles to Patrick Thomas Foxen and Mildred Elsie Gustafson. She lived-in close-knit neighborhood, and developed life long friendships with a group of ladies, who named themselves the “Vine Street Gang.” In 1965, Pam graduated from West Covina High School. She went on to Westmont College and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with emphasis in elementary education in 1969. more

League awards 10 scholarships

The nonprofit Assistance League of Santa Barbara has awarded 10 students with scholarships, the organization said in a press release. … The eight others are already attending college and received renewed scholarships: Madison Cleek, Westmont College; Ryker Dacus, UCLA; Perla Gill, UCSB;, Dane Pederson, Loyola Marymount; Sam Johnson, UC Berkeley; Cheyenee Marmolejo, Cal State Fresno; Jacqueline Hernandez, Cal State Channel Islands; and Carleigh Ornelas, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, according to the news release. more

Among the school’s 102nd graduating class, students have been accepted to several undergraduate California State University and University of California schools, as well as Westmont College in Montecito, St. John’s University in New York City and Bentley University in Massachusetts, Rigby said. more
