POLO | Women Fall to Virginia In USPA National Finals

The men’s polo team went into the USPA National Intercollegiate Championships with a match against top-seeded Westmont College. The Warriors were tough opponents for the Red with quick, back-and-forth play throughout the first half of the match. The starters led the team with senior captain Nik Feldman scoring eight goals, freshman Ignacio Masias with four and junior Nick Stieg with one. Although Cornell put up a fight, the Warriors’ momentum could not be stopped. The match ended with an overall score of 15-14 in Westmont’s favor. more

POLO | Men to Compete in USPA National Championships

After achieving the program’s 20th regional title last week when it beat Skidmore College in its last match, the men’s team remains in good spirits and is ready to take on its opponents at Nationals. The team will start off the National Championships facing Westmont College on Thursday. The winner of the match will play against SMU or Virginia, depending on who wins, the April 12 championship game. more

“While our spring schedule does prepare us well for Nationals, especially given the tough competition we will face from non-intercollegiate clubs, we will not meet the defending national champion, Westmont, in our regular schedule,” he said. “Although our team would like an earlier shot at them, we plan to meet them in the National Championship. We expect nothing short of a finals appearance.” more

Polo Advances to Semis at National Championships

The men’s and women’s polo teams head onward in the intercollegiate national championships for polo this week. Both teams have qualified for the semifinals with strong finishes in their previous two matches. The men, who finished the regular season with a solid thrashing of Maryland, took home a 16-4 overall record. The team opened their championship bid against Westmont College. The Red breezed through the early round matchup, 22-15. more
