Mercy Warriors Volleyball: Grace named league MVP

Before Benicia Grace and the rest of the Mercy Warriors volleyball team battled for a first round playoff win, Tuesday night, she and three teammates were honored by the Tri-Cities League. Grace was named the Tri-Cities League’s Most Valuable Players and fellow Warriors Nastasha Czajka, Melissa Grens and Julene Stokes joined her on the All-League team. Grace said she plans on continuing her volleyball career at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. more

Dairyville event provides scholarships for 100

Behind 70-odd booths, less audible than Jonathan Skillman’s team of family- fiddlers, less tasty than the hot dogs, are $86,000 worth of scholarships. … Amanda Wigno used her scholarship to obtain a communications degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and got a job almost immediately back at home. Today, she works for Garcia at the Tehama County Job Training Center in Red Bluff, and on Saturday, she was volunteering alongside her weekday boss. more
