Westmont College lands sharpshooting Lancer

Gyse Hulsebosch is headed for Tinseltown – or close to it. On the Dalben Center floor that bore witness to so many of his seemingly-supernatural exploits, the East Union senior signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his basketball career on scholarship at Westmont College, an interdenominational Christian liberal arts college in Montecito nestled in the hills above Santa Barbara. more

RC High grads all college bound

Eighty-four seniors at Ripon Christian High received their diplomas last Friday. The graduates were led by valedictorian Samantha Carvalho and salutatorian Laura de Raadt during the processional playing of “Pomp and Circumstance” while greeted by family, friends and special guests packing the RC gym. …

LEADING ASSEMBLY MINORITY: Olsen gearing up for party’s top leadership role in Assembly

Kristin Olsen is making her mark at the State Capitol. The 40-year-old Modesto mother who represents Manteca, Ripon, Lathrop and Escalon as well as Stanislaus County in the Assembly has been selected to become the Republic Assembly Leader in November. She is sharing the job and its responsibilities until then with Connie Conway, R-Tulare. … Staff members made note of the piano keyboard tucked against the wall to the right of Olsen’s chair with a set of headphones set close at hand.  Olsen minored in Music at Westmont College and makes use of that musical talent to reduce the stresses of the job. more

Mankin eyes VOL title with scholarship already signed

With her future already locked up, there is one thing left on Manteca High Rileigh Mankin’s to-do list to make her senior year even sweeter. “Win VOL. Definitely,” she said…Mankin accepted a scholarship offer to play for Corban College of Salem, Ore. back in November. Westmont (Santa Barbara), Dominican University (San Rafael) and William Jessup University (Rocklin) were among her other options. more

Four Ripon seniors taking the next step

It’s been a busy week in the City of Ripon in terms of high school student athletes moving on to the college-level. Ripon Christian’s Candice Adema, Bulletin All-Area Most Valuable Player, also signed on the dotted line this week, agreeing to continue her promising volleyball career with Westmont College of Santa Barbara. more
