The University of Miami is back!

It’s been over sixty years since the University of Miami boasted major polo credentials. The initial program was developed under the sponsorship of 10-goaler Michael Phipps and his pro, George Oliver.  Phipps honed his teeth on arena polo during his college days at Yale University (playing on a national championship Yale team in 1932). …In spite of the overtime loss, the University of Miami was selected to join Western Ontario University, Texas A&M, Cornell, Westmont College and the University of Virginia at the University of Connecticut’s Horsebarn Hill Arena in Storrs, CT April 4-9, for the 2016 National Intercollegiate Championships (NIC). more

Westmont Men and UVA Women Win USPA National Intercollegiate Polo Championship

After a week of intense competition, the Westmont College men’s and UVA women’s polo teams emerged victorious in the U.S. Polo Association (USPA) National Intercollegiate Championship with title victories on Saturday. The tournaments took place just outside of Houston in Brookshire, Texas, and featured the top university polo programs and some of the best up-and-coming talents in the nation. more

Top College Polo Teams to Compete for National Title Outside Houston

 First-class men’s and women’s college polo teams are set to face off in the upcoming U.S. Polo Association (USPA) National Intercollegiate Championship tournaments April 9-13 in Brookshire, Texas, just outside of Houston. The annual event features top university polo programs that have made their way to the big event through various preliminary and regional tournaments.  On hand to compete will be some of the best up-and-coming talents in U.S. polo. The UVA men’s and women’s teams will be back to defend their titles this year and will face strong competition from rival Cornell, who finished runner-up in both tournaments last year. In the past two seasons, UVA and Cornell have combined to win each national tournament on both the men and women’s side. Looking to knock both teams off their pedestal this year are talented squads from Southern Methodist University, Colorado State, Washington State and Westmont College. more
