The conference currently has two teams (Concordia and Westmont) holding a record of 6-1, while Hope International and Arizona Christian each hold a 5-1 conference record. Freshman Aysia Shellmire recorded a double-double, and Westmont shot 53 percent in the first half en route to a 88-76 win over Arizona Christian in a GSAC women’s basketball game Saturday at Murchison Gym.
Shellmire scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the 17th-ranked Warriors, who evened the GSAC record at 3-3 and improved to 16-3 overall. more
Westmont pounded San Diego Christian on the boards and romped to a 75-49 basketball win in a GSAC game Thursday night at Murchison Gym.

Westmont’s aggressive defensive efforts threw salt on the Santa Cruz Banana Slugs on Thursday in a 66-50 non-conference victory for the Warriors. Thankfully, the Warriors were anything but sluggish as they took the court this evening. They were playing well-rounded and focused basketball the entire time. “From the very beginning, we played really good defense that held our opponents to just 16 points in the first half. In turn, we were up by 20 at the half which gave us an advantage that helped us eventually walk away with another road win,” opened John Moore. more
Westmont basketball players handed out assists like Christmas presents in an 82-62 non-conference win over La Sierra on Saturday at Murchison Gym. Twenty-three of Westmont’s 27 baskets came off assists, which pleased coach John Moore. Daniel Carlin had three assists, while Cory Blau, Britton Williams and Sean Harman ended with four each. more
Kristin Karr tossed in 20 points and Cora Chan scored 18, leading Westmont to a 75-72 women’s basketball win over Montana’s Great Falls on Saturday at Murchison Gym. Westmont took charge in the second half, shooting 62 percent en route to a 79-64 men’s basketball win at Claremont Mudd-Scripps on Saturday night, “It felt like we had a little bit of the “post finals blues” in the first half, but I really liked the way we played for most of the second half,” said Westmont coach John Moore, referring to end-of-the semester final exams. “I thought we competed, I thought we were tough.” more
Junior Krissy Karr tallied 23 points, sparking No. 11 Westmont to a 67-58 women’s basketball win over the visiting Flames of Bethesda on Saturday. Karr dropped in five three-pointers as the Warriors drained 14 buckets from beyond the arc. “Krissy set the tone from the beginning and had great command on the court,” said Westmont head coach Kirsten Moore, “not just with her scoring, but she also had seven assists, three steals and was getting deflections.” more
Daniel Carlin hit a 3-footer with five seconds left, lifing Westmont to a 68-67 non-conference men’s basketball victory at Pomona Pitzer on Saturday night. Cory Blau hit a 3-pointer to give the Warriors a 66-65 lead with less than a minute to go. But Pomona Pitzer responded with an 18-footer to retake the lead. more
