The Westmont men withstood a furious too-late comeback attempt from the University of Alberta and prevailed to give coach John Moore his 500th Warrior victory Friday at the 42nd annual Tom Byron Classic. The Warriors landed an 83-74 victory over the Golden Bears, after leading by as many as 28 points midway through the second half. more

The Thomas Fire loomed over Toro Canyon late Monday as crews fight to stem its progress west through Santa Barbara County. At last report 231,700 acres, the wildfire is now the fifth largest in California history.
