McChrystal to speak at Westmont

Former Gen. Stan McChrystal will speak at the 12th annual Westmont President’s Breakfast in March. Mr. McChrystal, a former four-star general, is a best-selling author, popular college teacher and one of the most revered military officers of his generation, said college spokesman Scott Craig. For five years, Mr. McChrystal commanded Joint Special Operations Command, which oversees the military’s most sensitive forces. He assumed command of all international forces in Afghanistan in 2009. He is credited with turning the tide of war in both Iraq and Afghanistan. more
Fire burns near Westmont College

The Montecito Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday across from the Cold Springs entrance to Westmont College. According to a department news release crews found a two-story estate with visible fire from the first floor in the 700 block of Cold Springs Rd. There was significant smoke damage to the entire structure. more
