Solvang Brewing Company hosts exhibit

Two artists will be showing their work for the next two months at the Solvang Brewing Company, which is becoming a popular alternative exhibit space for members of the Artists Guild of the Santa Ynez Valley.The show opened Thursday, Jan. 26, and features the work of photographer Vicki Mitchell and painter Suzanne Huska. … Mitchell has shown her work at Gallery Los Olivos, Mission Creek Gallery in Los Olivos, Bank of Montecito, and Westmont College. more

Hark! The Blue Angels sing!

The most-beloved music of the season will be presented by the Blue Angels Choir of the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church in a festive Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Filling the spacious church sanctuary will be the choral voices of the Blue Angels, along with a return performances by two guest artists who captivated last year’s Christmas audience – David Talbott at the keyboard of the grand piano, and David Gell at the console of the Wesley-Moller pipe organ. … He was previously on the staff of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and for several years was organist and pianist for the Montecito Covenant Church. Sam Tevis crowned queen

The football stadium at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School was packed Friday night as the homecoming court promenaded down the red carpet under balloon arches of orange and black. … Blakely Colvin is involved with the cross country, golf and track teams. She started an organization called Cupcakes for Cancer, through which she and her friends and family bake and sell cupcakes to help raise funds for cancer research. She plans to attend Westmont College and work with nonprofit organizations. … Sam Tevis is involved in the Associated Student Body government, the Connect club (inspired by the message of Columbine shooting victim Rachel Scott), and the track team.
