Murillo was recognized following a 27-point, 15-rebound, six-assist effort in a 98-66 victory over West Coast Baptist. The 6-7 senior forward made 12 of 16 shots from the floor in that game, and followed with 11 rebounds and eight points in the Eagles’ 74-66 victory over Westmont. more

Biola University holds top spot in Golden State Athletic Conference competition after fall season

The men’s and women’s basketball teams from Biola will open GSAC play at home Tuesday against Westmont. The women (5-10 overall) will play at 5 p.m. and the men (10-6) tip off at 7:30. more

Something’s afoot this weekend at Whittier College

Biola topped Arizona Christian by scores of 25-9, 25-17, 25-15, led by 37 assists from setter Gracee Gallarda. The Eagles host Westmont at 7 p.m. Saturday and are 9-0 at home this season. more

NOTEBOOK: Whittier Christian's Atwood will attend Fordham

Start spreading the news. Emily Atwood is leaving … well, in a while. Whittier Christian High School’s girls volleyball star recently announced she has verbally committed to Division I Fordham University of New York, where she will continue both her education and sports career…Atwood chose Fordham over an array of other colleges that included Westmont, Point Loma Nazarene, Southern Oregon University and Long Beach State. more

Derrick Williams, the Daily News 2009 boys basketball Player of the Year, heads the East team in Saturday’s 5th Annual High School All-Star doubleheader, to be played at Whittier College. He is joined by La Habra’s Jordan Sachs, a 6-foot-5 Westmont College signee and the area’s leading scorer, at 27.5 points a game, to go with 7.8 rebounds, 33 3-point baskets, four assists and three steals a game. more
