The Master’s University Ranks 38th in NAIA’s Best Athletic Programs

At the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year, The Master’s University ranks 38th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, the list of the nation’s best NAIA athletic programs… Notably, only two other Golden State Athletic Conference institutions sit among the NAIA’s Top 25 schools as Westmont College finished eighth with 631.25 points, while Biola University placed 18th overall with 512 points. more

Carmen McCain is an assistant professor of English at Westmont College. Her research focus is on Hausa-language literature, film and popular culture. Hausa is a language spoken by over 50 million people across West Africa. more

People on the Move

Ten faculty members were honored recently with Provost Faculty Enhancement awards for excellence in teaching, scholarship or service. Rebecca S. Beal, Ph.D., received the Excellence in Adapting Classic Principles of Jesuit Pedagogy into the Curriculum: The Magis Award. Beal, professor of English and theater, joined the faculty at Scranton in 1983. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Westmont College, her master’s degree at the University of Chicago and her Ph.D. at the University of Texas. more

Dipsea Race Foundation Dinner: Scholarships awarded to standout high school seniors

Presenters lauded the five high school seniors who were awarded college scholarships at the annual Dipsea Race Foundation dinner Friday night for their performance in the classroom and on the track and trails… Mace, who is headed to Westmont College, began running the Dipsea when she was 7 years old. Biehl has high hopes entering Sunday’s race after posting two fastest-time finishes among high-schoolers in previous contests. more

It All Adds Up for Top Westmont Math Researchers

A Westmont student has won a national science research award and six students presented their research from last summer to a regional section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). more

The works are mostly portraits that move in a static manner on the canvas… Robin Eley grew up in Australia and attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara earning a BA in Fine Art.  more

Providence School in Santa Barbara Graduates 18 High School Seniors

Providence, A Santa Barbara Christian School celebrated the accomplishments of 18 graduates on Friday at First Presbyterian Church, saluting a class with a high degree of participation in arts, athletics and service… Seven students will study at Westmont College. more

156 seniors graduate in Morro Bay — off to college, the military and volunteer service

Two days after more than $181,000 in local scholarships were awarded to Morro Bay High School seniors at the school’s Senior Tribute, 156 graduates were honored at the school’s annual commencement on Thursday… Members of the Class of 2017 will be attending California State University or University of California campuses, as well as private schools such as Stanford University and Westmont College. more

San Marcos High School Crowns Its Class of 2017

San Marcos High School’s seniors celebrated commencement Thursday at Warkentin Stadium, where family and friends packed the stands to cheer on the graduates… Some colleges San Marcos alumni will be attending next year include Santa Barbara City College, UC Santa Barbara, Stanford University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Westmont College, University of Southern California, Cal Poly, University of Notre Dame, Pitzer College, Santa Clara University, Princeton University, Brown University and MIT.  more
