The Dos Pueblos girls opened with a win in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions Friday, beating Cathedral Catholic — a team they’d just beaten on Thursday — 14-2. … In the first game, Westmont broke open a game tied at one in the fifth, with scores by Hayden Euper, on a sac fly, and a single by Isaiah Leach to score Taylor Bush. Three more runs in the sixth were enough to give Warrior starter David Gaydos the win. more

Christ Episcopal Church elects new rector

The Rev. Dr. Daniel London has been elected as the new rector at Christ Episcopal Church, 15th and H streets in Eureka. London will be celebrating at both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services Sunday. London grew up in Los Alto and, after graduating from The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale, he went to Westmont College in Santa Barbara, where he double majored in English and religious studies, served as co-Director of an Urban Ministry Team and worked as a radio DJ and then general manager of the college radio station. more
