Westmont College uses Tea Fire experience in evacuation preparations

The Thomas Fire has forced mandatory evacuations for students, faculty and staff at Westmont College, but the school’s President says this isn’t the first time his campus has been threatened by a wildfire.

The Tea Fire back in 2008 damaged and burned several buildings on Westmont’s campus.  So far, the campus has not been in the destructive path of the Thomas Fire, but it’s close. more

Westmont takes on global leadership training

Westmont’s Global Leadership Center partnered with local institutes and donors to provide funds for a brand new dorm and brand new educational programs — not only for students, but also for business leaders in the area. The Santa Barbara-based undergraduate college raised a total of $155 million for the construction of the dorm and also endowments, scholarships and programmatic costs, or what will go on inside the building. more
